Arm Aesthetics

Both women and men track their figure closely, avoiding rapid weight swings, which can cause skin to sag. Nonetheless, for all the efforts, challenges emerge over time that they can not manage on their own. Modern plastic surgery, which offers patients a special procedure-brachioplasty, is capable of restoring skin to the firmness and elasticity it once had.

Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

Brachioplasty is a plastic surgery for the aesthetic restoration of the relief of the upper part of the hands by eliminating sagging skin and fatty excesses.  It can be combined with hand liposuction, abdominoplasty.

What is brachioplasty?

Brachioplasty (plastic upper-hand surgery) is a reconstruction procedure from which the saggy skin is removed and the upper limbs are returned to relief. This form of surgical procedure helps you to bring the old youth back into your face, making the skin more elastic and toned.

Tightening often involves not just the stomach but the hands as well. The field of problem is the upper arm from the shoulder to the elbow. As a rule, fat is accumulated here, and the skin is slowly losing elasticity, becoming flabby and slackening. This is most likely attributed to changes in age-related tissue or weight loss.

Plastic surgeons give an operation to lift this region, called brachioplasty, to solve this issue. This is an action that is fairly easy and lasts about 1 hour. The surgeon makes a longitudinal incision on the inner side of the arm, excises the excess tissue, tightens it and sutures it. You should return to work after 3-7 days (if it doesn't require physical exertion), after 2 weeks (gradually)-to sport.

The only downside to brachioplasty is that this lift leaves an extended scar (from the armpit to the elbow) on the inside of the arm. And although our clinic's plastic surgeons may apply thin cosmetic sutures, while the scars may fade and become invisible over time, they may stay with the patient for life. Therefore the esthetic impact of the procedure must be balanced with the fact that scars occur, also thin and subtle.

How is an arm lifting operation?

The operation to correct hand contours is conducted under general anesthesia and can last for 1.5-2 hours. The following choices are possible: T-shaped incision at the inside of the arm from the elbow to the armpit. Suitable for excising the skin in large amounts. Very complex and thorough process. The principal drawback of this approach is the large size noticeable scar.

S-shaped incision from the shoulder inwards to the pole. It is used in the armpits, in the absence of skin tone. The scar is almost invisible.

Features of rehabilitation after plastic surgery of Arms

The patient may be left in the clinic for 1-2 days depending on the size of the operation. After 7–10 days, sutures are removed.

Follow these expert guidelines for a quick recovery:

  • make sure to wear underwear compression for the first few weeks.
  • Place pillows under your arms while you sleep, to alleviate swelling and discomfort.
  • Hygiene procedures with a humid pad, tub, and bath are forbidden for the first few days.
  • Walking within a week is likely.
  • Did not lift weights for 2-3 months.
